Wisdom & Virtue

Education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue, and it is accomplished by nourishing the soul on truth, goodness, and beauty.
— Leigh A. Bortins

There are two types of education: the first teaches a man to make a living and the second teaches him how to live.

If we perceive the end of education as being the formation of a wise and virtuous human that ought to impact what we do in our schools.

Our aim should be to impart a knowledge of what is most worth knowing so our pupils are able to direct their own lives and the life of their community.

We must teach them to see the purpose to which life must be directed: to become a wise and virtuous man or woman after God’s own heart.
